This limpness or lose of tone causes the soft structures of mouth, namely ovula, tongue, soft palate to fall back into the throat and partially obstructs the passageway of air into the lungs. This obstruction of air generates vibration which further causes an absurd sound of grrrrrrrrrrr...The second reason is behind your snoring is sore throat or unclear throat, mainly during flu or cough when it gets covered with phlegm.

How to stop snoring?


  • Drink warm water before going to bed. It will clear the blockage of your throat which will further prevent snoring.


  • Dissolve a tablespoon common salt to lukewarm water and gurgle twice a day. It will reduce the swelling in your throat which will gradually ease the flow of air to your lungs.


  • Honey is known for its medicinal properties. Consumption of 2-3 tablespoons of honey is very beneficial in getting rid of snoring.

  • Boil pure mustard oil and roast some garlic cloves  in it. Apply this oil to your neck and chest before going to bed. It will give you relief from difficulty in breathing.


  • If you snore because of allergy, flu or cough, then mint is very beneficial for you. Add one or two drops of mint oil to a glass of warm water and gurgle twice using this solution. It will give you relief from snoring. But remember not to ingest it as it may be harmful for your body.


  • Olive oil is an anti-inflammatory agent. It provides relief to the wind pipe and also makes the passageway of air clear. Daily consume 2-3 spoonful of olive oil. You can also consume the mixture of honey and olive oil mixed in the ratio 1:1.

  • Sometimes, dust particles get deposited in the wind pipe which cause snoring. In this case, always try to keep your nose clean. You can take the help of steamer to take steam regularly as it will clear your nose and also remove dirt and dust from it.


  • Clarified butter, also known as Desi ghee is loaded with many medicinal properties which helps in opening jammed nose. Warm some clarified butter and before going to bed, add a few drops of it into your nostrils using a dropper. Follow this method regularly. It will help you in getting rid of snoring. But, do not heat the butter too much as it can burn your nose.


  • Turmeric is a great natural antibiotic and antiseptic agent. Add 2 teaspoons of turmeric powder to warm milk and drink it daily before going to bed. It will stop your snores. You can also add sugar to the milk as per your taste if you find it too bitter to drink.

  • Cardamom is a precious spice that has many medicinal properties. Its daily consumption is very helpful in eliminating the habit of snoring. Just add half teaspoon cardamom powder to a glass of warm water and drink it before going to sleep.


  • Keep away from cold drinks or other cold edibles as they may give you a sore throat which will further worsen your problem.
